Eeeeeeeeeeeeeesh. Barack is catching a lot of flack for using the phrase “You can put lipstick on a pig and its still a pig” during one of his campaign stops. Obviously people are connecting this to the “hilarious” Sarah Palin joke about hockey moms, pitbulls, and lipstick (which I thought was a weirdly worded joke anyway because dog’s have their own form of “lipstick.”) Anyway, “putting lipstick on a pig” is a commonly used aphorism and the only reason its getting any press is because the audience clapped and laughed as if the reference was on purpose. Also, the campaign has hit another lull before the debates, so the media and both campaigns will jump on anything to make a headline about it. McCain has played the gender card and called Obama sexist, Obama says “uhh…both you and I have used that phrase before, John.”

Remember when you said this, John McCain?

I think Barack Obama’s new ads are more effective than McCain’s.
