Rain? In Octember?

Hey y’allz! I’m back! Blogging again, just like I do everyday, without exception!

  • This dog won some sort of Fashion competition in Manila. And, get this, his name is Mondex! (I was kinda hoping it was going to be Jacques Cousteau!)

Your move, Comcast

I am at home, sitting and waiting for the Comcast guy to arrive between 8-12. My gracious neighbors have unknowingly lent me their wireless connection for the time being. Comcast…you are the bain of my existence. I have never had a less than 1 hour conversation with any Comcast phone operator, even when I just want to schedule a technician. I use them to sharpen my skills of negotiation through a tactic I like to call “Threaten to quit Comcast and sign on with RCN.” It has never worked.

Please excuse my beauty

So I’m back! To blogging infrequently!

News item: NYTimes just UNendorsed Hillary Clinton. (CLICK AND READ THE ARTICLE, ITS A VERY SHORT EDITORIAL). Despite her “big” victory last night, the NYTimes is telling her, in so many words, “Nice Try, Give Up.”

From Lauren, this is the video she’s been watching all week:

I am the Ace of Cakes

  • THIS BLOG IS NOW AN ACT OF CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. I WILL ATTEMPT TO BREAK A LAW THAT I DEEM TO BE UNJUST ON EVERY POST. I SPRAYPAINTED THE ABOVE GRAFFITI ON THE WALL BEHIND A STAGE AT AN OPEN MIC COMEDY CLUB.

  • The Doctor and Ice Cream Tester sketch from “That Mitchell and Webb Look.” This is a Brit sketch comedy duo that started on BBC radio (”That Mitchell and Webb Sound”) and have since moved to televised sketch comedy and now a TV sitcom called “Peep Show.” Marty informed me of these gents.

afternoon blogfest

Sorry for the late start, ladies and gents. Hope you enjoyed the Dangers of News Reporting video for the 10th time, rewinding to see if that airplane wing really did clip that reporter in the back of the head. (It did).

  • This comes from Marty, a sketch aficianado (more so than Knicky-Bocky, no matter how much he loves “Little Britain”). It’s a link to the 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches, including youtube videos of each. Represented here is Mr. Show, The State, SNL, Kids in the Hall, Upright Citizens Brigade, Monty Python, and plenty others. Here’s a taste (#3):

  • Big Mike says he likes this new band called She and Him. It features musician M. Ward paired with actress and surprisingly good singer Zooey Deschanel (you might remember her from “Almost Famous,” or the girl Will Ferrell has a crush on in “Elf,” or as some miserable character in the one-note formulaic bullshit series “Weeds”). Anyway, check ou the link and listen to their MySpace music.

  • Check out this treehouse this insane guy called “Squirrel Man” lives in. Read the article to find out how “The Man” is evicting him from his barely standing rodent sanctuary built from multiple shopping cart loads of garbage.

The Dangers of Being a TV Reporter

Eight Florida teens were arrested after allegedly filming the beating of another teen and threatening to post the video on the Internet. The victim was treated for a concussion and numerous bruises.

Mythbusters interview. If you’re like my roommate Pat and you like this show, you’ll like this interview.

tell your mama, vote for obama!

  • Part of the changing tide of people leaving Hillary’s camp in support of Obama is due to kids telling their parents to switch. Children are the foremost lobbyists for Obama, and even superdelegate Senators who recently endorsed Obama have cited their little ones as being strong influences. Personally, I don’t know how I feel about this. I am an avid supporter of blindly supporting your parents views, be it their political affiliation or fervent racism. Why are kids trying to change the Perfect Generation?

  • Pamela Anderson is going to have her own documentary-style TV show on E!. The star of VIP and Barb Wire hasn’t been in the spotlight recently as she has devoted much of her time to finding the perfect Dad for her 10- and 11-year-old sons. She has recently settled for the one who can do real magic.

  • Many of you have probably heard the story about the 52 kids who were removed from a polygamist ranch in El Dorado, Texas. Is this story surprising or somewhat “par for the course” for Texas? Why does this state breed isolated religious cult compounds? Anyway, you should click on this thumbnail to see what these people living in this El Dorado compound looked like. Their hairstyles are a bit outdated, but seeing the beautiful healthy shining hair is still a totally organic experience!
    Is it Pantene Pro-V?

Eat, eat, you savages.

  • 76% of the country is ready for a black president! 20% said the country is not ready, which might not necessarily suggest that 20% of the country is racist. It could mean that they think the country is racist enough that there could be some sort of backlash or assassination attempt. And speaking of assassination, its the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death at the hands of James Earl Ray

  • More after lunch!
